EURef2 Poll of Polls

The What UK Thinks: EURef2 Poll of Polls is based on the average share of the vote for ‘Leave’ and ‘Remain’ in the six most recent polls of how people would vote if they were to be presented once again with the choice of either leaving the EU or remaining a member.

The bar chart to the right shows the average of the six most recent polls, the fieldwork for which was conducted between 14 November and 7 December 2018. It is based on two polls by YouGov, and one each by ComRes, Survation Kantar and BMG.  The most recent addition is a poll conducted by BMG Research between 4 and 7 December 2018. The series has also been updated to include polls conducted by BMG Research between 3-5 October and 6-9 November which were not published until 10 December 2018. The effect of this update has been to change the poll of polls for all entries for October 2018 from Remain 52, Leave 48 to Remain 53, Leave 47.

The line graph below shows how the Poll of Polls has changed since the beginning of 2018. The date at the bottom of the graph represents the date on which interviewing for the most recent poll in that set of six was concluded. Details of which companies’ polls are included in each estimate can be seen as you drag your cursor along the line graph.

Note the series includes both polls that were only conducted in Great Britain and those that were conducted across the United Kingdom as a whole. It also includes both those that asked people how they would vote in response to the question that appeared on the ballot paper in the June 2016 referendum and those that asked a slightly differently worded question.
